Lisa Marie Richford is running for Mercer County Executive because after 20 years of single-party rule it is time for real leadership. Lisa will lead the way in bringing transparency to County government’s budget because taxpayers should know exactly why and how the government spends their money. Lisa will bring real solutions to problems many of us face – there is no reason why over 200,000 of our friends and neighbors should have to worry about Legionella bacteria (causes Legionnaires’ Disease) in their drinking water – Lisa will find the cause and get it fixed. Real leadership will solve issues with our elections. Remember 2022, when every voting machine in every polling place failed to work? With real leadership it will never happen again.
Lisa resides in Hamilton with her husband, their son and their dogs. Her ties to Mercer County run deep. Lisa’s parents met in Trenton, her Ukrainian immigrant mother came to the United States through Ellis Island at the age of three when her family fled war-torn Europe and Lisa’s father’s side of the family is of Irish decent. Her grandfather, the late John “Jack” Richford was a Mercer County Sheriff’s Officer.
Lisa Marie Richford graduated from Hightstown High School in 1983 and enrolled in Mercer County Community College. After a year Lisa transferred to Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) and graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Justice. Lisa worked through high school and college. The year between college and law school Lisa had the honor and privilege of working for the Honorable Magistrate John W. Devine at the US District Courthouse and the US Clerk’s Office at the Federal Courthouse in Trenton, New Jersey. Lisa graduated from the Thomas Cooley Law School (now Western Michigan University Cooley Law School) with a Juris Doctor in 1992. While waiting for Bar results Lisa worked at Princeton University, Nassau Hall at the Office of the Vice President and Secretary, Thomas Wright and Ann Halliday, assisting with preparation for the Board of Trustees meetings and assisted with research on Honorary Degree nominees.
Lisa has worked as an attorney for the past 31 years. She has successfully represented men and women throughout Mercer County and beyond. She now serves as in-house counsel for an organization working to find the cure for cancers affecting women.
